Prepare for the future of data analytics and AI assisted tasks

Data is the fuel for Artificial Intelligence. And Microsoft Fabric is the service for store and process data in any way, shape and form. It is the current and future data analytical platform at scale in the cloud.
Ten years ago when Microsoft released Power BI, it was bring the future of BI democratization for the enterprises. Power BI made possible developing a BI solution with minimal assist from IT and infrastructure.
Now Microsoft is doing it again. It is integrating the most popular and powerful data engines around the same data repository and file format, allowing for rapid data analytics at enterprise level with minimal assist from IT and infrastructure.
Workshops topics and agenda items include hands-on exercises on a sandbox environment provided to participants at the day of the workshop and for 5 days after, allowing them o redo their exercises after the event.
The future of Power BI at scale and integration with AI is in Microsoft Fabric. Get ready for it.
Workshops
How a Power BI data analyst’s live changes with Microsoft Fabric
09/15

Microsoft Fabric brings a ton of new possibilities to Power BI’s original workflow process to collect data and create a report. In this workshop you will learn how to increase scalability, modularize your semantic model and benefit of the new features in MS Fabric from a Power BI perspective.
Workshop agenda
- Power BI life-cycle review
- Keeping the same routine in Fabric
- New tools replacing Power Query (Transform button)
- DataFlow Gen2
- Lakehouse
- Warehouse
- The new semantic model
- Semantic model with Direct Lake
- The report creation experience
- Report creation in the browser with CoPilot
- Report creation with Power BI Desktop
Microsoft Fabric for the SQL Server DBA
09/16

Database professionals (DBAs) have always been the most knowledgeable team member on how company’s data behaviors, how it is structure and how to get the best performance possible when dealing with it. Microsoft SQL Server has always pushed to get both analytical and transactional data as close as possible, so the DBA could help achieve project goals.
With the need for large scaled data processing that SQL couldn’t support, and the advent of big data and data engineering, a chasm was created in between both ends of the data processing universe. Microsoft Fabric brings both ends together again.
In this workshop you will bridge your DBA skills (SQL Server in particular) to Microsoft Fabric. You will learn how to model data for performance and how to manage the Fabric environment to better assist data projects in the cloud.
Workshop agenda
- How data is stored in Fabric
- Fundamentals or Parquet and Delta Tables
- Z-Order and V-Order for performance
- Time-travel support
- Fundamentals of security in Fabric
- Implementing procedures in Fabric
- The medallion approach
- Data ingestion / data migration options
- Data mirroring technology
- Fundamentals of dimensional modeling
- Fundamentals of dataframes for AI model training
- Fundamentals of Fabric Semantic models
Microsoft Fabric for the SSIS developer SQL DBA
09/17

For two decades SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) has been the main choice for enterprises to compile data together from multiple sources into any data destination. It’s been the main tool for SQL Server based solutions to either pull or export data out of transactional database system.
Microsoft Fabric brings the next level of data integration at scale and in the cloud. Fabric supports bring data from dozens of data sources both on-prem and cloud based. Now it is possible to crunch data at volumes not feasible before with SSIS.
Even though there is no direct path from SSIS to Microsoft Fabric, in this workshop you will learn the approaches and techniques to make your data integration packages native to the cloud. You will learn how to bridge your SSIS skills to the many options available in Fabric.
Workshop agenda
- Bridging SSIS control flow to Fabric data engines
- Bridging SSIS data flow to Fabric data engines
- Fundamentals of PySpark
- Fundamentals of Mashup language
- The T-SQL specifics for the warehouse
- The thing SSIS couldn’t do: streaming data flows
- Fundamentals of Fabric OneLake
- Monitoring ETL / ELT progress and telemetry
- Shortcuts and one-data-copy-for-it-all strategy
- The CTAS approach for data preparation
- Fundamentals or Parquet and Delta Tables
- Z-Order and V-Order for performance
- Benefiting from Time-travel
- The role of Semantic Model in Fabric
Microsoft Fabric governance – All you need to know
09/18

Cloud based solutions make it easier and faster to deploy solutions because there is no capital expenditures (CAPEX) before hand. Operational expenditures (OPEX) becomes the central point for the financial success of the cloud project.
Particularly to Microsoft Fabric, being able to design and monitor compute capacity utilization is key. And their utilization is directly impacted by the available features and level o access of team members to the environment.
Likewise, keeping track of the data and vouching for the source of truths for the various data client levels is crucial.
In this workshop you will learn the basic of Microsoft Fabric governance at tenant level, capacity level and feature level, empowering you to implement controls for data accessibility and resource utilization.
Workshop Agenda
- Understanding Fabric’s capacity levels
- Understanding Fabric’s capacity units
- Fundamentals of tenant administration
- Fundamentals of domain administration
- Fundamentals of workspace administration
- Fundamentals of security in Fabric
- Built-in data lineage in Fabric
- Forecasting Fabric solution costs
- Integrating Fabric with on-premises sources
- Integrating Fabric with other clouds
